A pet has been surrendered to our rescue. How do I transfer them to our rescue account?

Read this article if a pet has been surrendered to your rescue and you need to transfer into your rescue account.

Step 1

If you already have a rescue account you can login HERE. If you don't have a rescue account you can request one HERE

Step 2

Once you're logged in we ALWAYS recommend checking the registered keeper is the person who has surrendered the animal to you. You can do this by clicking Authorised Database Search as shown below

Step 3

Once you're comfortable the details match you can then request the pet to be transferred to your account by navigating to the pets page, then clicking add pet as shown below

Once add pet is open enter the microchip number in this box and move down to enter name. At this point, our system will offer you to transfer the pet into your account.

Entering the microchip number

After you move to name you'll see the below pop out

Step 4

We will now start the process to rehome!

  • The previous keeper will receive an email or SMS with the ability to confirm the transfer or reject the transfer
  • If they do not respond within 3 days they will receive a second email.
  • On the 7th day we will send another email.
  • If they don’t respond by the end of the 7th day we’ll automatically transfer the pet.
  • You’ll get an update as soon as the pet is transferred to your rescue or the previous keeper rejects the transfer.
  • If the transfer is rejected our team will reach out to you within 48 hours.

We keep a history of all transfers, so even if a mistake is made we know who the previous owners are!

Step 5

The current registered keeper will then get a series of emails and texts that look like the one below. As soon as they click confirm the pet moves to your rescue account.

Remember by the 8th day, even if the pet owner hasn't confirmed we will transfer the pet to your account.

We do not circumvent this process unless we receive a request from an authorised organisation such as a police force.

Step 6

You will then receive an email to confirm your details! It looks a bit like the one below! Click the button and you’ll then confirm the details!

Step 7

Now you’ll be brought to the page to confirm all the details! We always ask you to check the rescue details as well as the pet's details in case anything has changed.

Step 8

Once you have confirmed the pet details you will receive an email with the pet’s certificate and the pet will be shown as in care within your rescue account.
