What do the messages mean on MyVet when you search microchips?

This article talks through searching microchips on MyVet and the messages you will see

When we are sure of who the pet owner is we'll display the pet owner information directly in MyVet as shown below.

What other messages might I see?

You may see the below message when we know something about the microchip but either can't display the information or we're not comfortable the information is accurate. 

A few of the scenarios where we might display this are:

  • There is an ongoing dispute around this pet
  • There is a welfare case ongoing
  • The details are protected (In cases such as Domestic abuse)
  • We only have implanter details and we need to conduct some extra checks

If you see the below message this means we don't have any information on this microchip, but another Defra compliant database does. You can go directly to their website from here.

Lastly, if you see the below message this means the microchip isn't registered on any database in the UK. In this case, we always recommend checking EuroPetNet
